A cookie is a small file that we store in your browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Google Chrome, etc.) when you visit our Dictionary Services. Using this file, our systems are able to recognise your computer from your previous visits to our Dictionary Services.
Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser, while others have a longer lifespan, but most importantly, we have no way of identifying who you are, where you live, how old you are, etc. – in most cases, the cookie is completely anonymous. However, you have the option of letting your browser automatically fill out web forms with personal information, and this is information that is stored with you alone.
Cookies help us deliver an enhanced user experience through our Dictionary Services. Some features depend on cookies so you cannot expect to get the full user experience if you disable cookies. The Dictionary Service, for instance, uses a cookie to identify your account or settings with us and to send you back to where you were when you left the service.
Technical cookies
Technical cookies are necessary for the vast majority of websites to function as they should. Among other things, they ensure that you remain logged onto the website you are visiting when using, e.g., the Dictionary Services. Technical cookies are used, e.g., when logging in with a username and password or via Unilogin. Technical cookies have no bearing on your privacy as they do not record personal information.
Statistics cookies
Statistics cookies are used to optimise the design, user-friendliness and efficiency of a website.
The information gathered is included, for example, in analysing which information is most popular on the site and should therefore be easy to find to improve user-friendliness. Statistics cookies can also be used to collect visitor statistics through a simple count of the number of visits to a website.
Statistics cookies are usually of little to no significance to your privacy, but we are required to inform you about it and ask for your consent when using statistics cookies unless the data is anonymised.
Personalised cookiesPersonalised cookies gather information by following us around a website where they collect our digital footprints. They are therefore also called "tracking cookies". They do not gather information about your activities for marketing purposes.
Personalised cookies are used to provide you with more targeted and relevant content, for example in the form of suggested words, information and dictionary entries. Other users will see other content. The content is selected on the basis of the information that personalised cookies have collected about your searches and interests. Personalised cookies should therefore be seen as a service when you move around the Dictionary Services. We must obtain your consent when collecting information using cookies to create personalised content.
Marketing cookiesWhen cookies are used commercially to target ads to you, they are called marketing cookies.
Marketing cookies gather information when you follow us on our different websites, in the same way that personalised cookies do. Marketing cookies are therefore also "tracking cookies". The information collected is used to create an overview of your interests, habits and activities to show you relevant ads for things you have previously looked at.
We must inform and obtain your consent when using marketing cookies.
You can delete and block the use of cookies through your browser settings. You can find guides on how to do this on websites like this one: https://kb.iu.edu/d/ahic.
The Dictionary Group uses technical cookies and statistics cookies. As mentioned, technical cookies do not require separate consent.
Statistics cookies are only used in relation to third-party products, cf. the following sections.
Third party products
The Dictionary Group uses the following third-party products:
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool that generates detailed statistics about user behaviour on websites, e.g., we can see which pages users start on and how long they stay on a webpage. Where did the users come from, and what keywords did they use to find the site? This allows us to optimise our efforts in relation to receiving traffic and see which keywords should be optimised. To learn more about Google Analytics, visit this website: https://www.google.com/intl/en/analytics/.
Google Analytics is IP anonymised by the Dictionary Group, so it is not possible to identify the person(s) using the Dictionary Services.
We use Google Analytics, but as we have disabled anonymisation and advertising, we do not have to ask for your consent.
The Dictionary Group uses the following social media:
Common to them all is that we do not use cookies and/or Pixels to collect personal information, including tracking your movements on the media.
If you have any questions or comments about this cookie policy, please contact Ordbogen via telephone +45 6612 6000, email support@ordbogen.com or our website https://www.ordbogen.com/support.
